Preparing for the Obstacle Race
Going through numerous obstacle races is a great way of training your muscles. Like what was mentioned earlier, your endurance will be tested. So, before you join the race, make sure that you are well-prepared. Otherwise, you will just end up feeling bad about yourself. Start your training as soon as you can. The earlier you do it, the better. Your muscles will be able to adapt to the challenges. And so, when the big day comes, you will find it just like a piece of cake!
Here is the basic training that you have to make to prepare yourself physically for the Spartan Race.
Crawling will help you build your strength and endurance as you move across the ground. Learn how to crawl properly by getting down on all fours, making sure that you keep your hips low to the ground. Depending on your ability, start crawling a distance of about 30 to 50 yards and do this for at least three times. Try going further after some time. By doing so, you will be able to condition your body for obstacle courses that will involve crawling.
In this training, you will need a pull-up or chin bar to lift yourself off the ground. You have to lift yourself up in such a way that your chin goes over the bar. This exercise will utilize the strength of your muscles. Start slowly until you get your chin above the bar and repeat this procedure three times or more.
Obstacle races will require you to run in between the different obstacles. And so, you should start your training by running. You can mix up the various running techniques. Select a short distance and sprint. After a while, you can go ahead and run a longer distance.
